Colours Junkanoo Group was formed underneath the big ginep tree in the Pond, Nassau, Bahamas where still today its leaders congregate.

In 2000 Colours Junkanoo made its debut at the annual Boxing Day Junkanoo Parade, arriving jubilant, excited and confident; trying something that none had before tried; we wore costumes of only a single colour, a phenomenon which made us distinctive from the other groups and popular with enthusiasts in the Junkanoo arena.

Our Group's Success was not by accident, it was engineered by a group of Junkanoo veterans, who dreamed a dream and worked feverishly and diligently, giving of their time, talent, expertise, sweat and tears together with the loosening of their purse strings to make the dream of a family centred Junkanoo group a success.

The name Colours Junkanoo Group was coined when under the ginep tree in the Pond, the group of Junkanooers met and talked as they often did.  Many names were offered up, and this apparent small task seemed a tremendous feat.  However, Jason, "Joey" Simms one of the lead costume designers, inspired by a box of crayons, thought aloud "if we picked one colour out of a box of crayons and designed our costumes with varying shades of that one colour that would look amazing"
...it was Joey who therefore named our group "Colours" and all present were happy to agree.  The name Colours Junkanoo Group has received recognition throughout the length and breadth of the
Bahamas and in deed abroad, however, we have had other persons who were previously affiliated with the group vying to assume the name as their own.  We the Colours Junkanoo Group family are determined however, to uphold the authenticity of the original Colours Junkanoo Group, i.e. a group not for profit, but for the furtherance of our cultural heritage Junkanoo through the development of artistic and musical skills in our youth and our families as a whole.

You will note that Colours Junkanoo Group continues its tradition of the unique colour combinations year after year and while many A, B and fun division groups try to imitate our colour coordination, the Colours Junkanoo Group's colour scheme is one that is difficult to mimic.

Our leader is Kevin "Kevy" Ferguson and is assisted by Jason "Joey" Simms, Chris Rahming, Dale Bain, Glen "Gun" Ferguson.
